Things Are Happening Places: Wrong For The Part 2014

Wrong For The Part 2014

I heard of Wrong for the Part last year, though I was either committed to another project and/or was otherwise too overwhelmed by my stay in Madison at that point. The premise is genius: take well known scenes from theater and cinema and fill the roles with actors who would be considered wrong for the part. Not poor actors, mind you, but dang good ones that would be wrong for the intended role due to gender, age, body, or manner. There’s already great potential for comedy on that premise alone, and I’m sure it’s pushed to the max with the selected shorts. That they are all comedy is unknown by me because I’ve never gone to the show or will be present for the upcoming one, but it’s what my gut tells me, so…rolling with it.

Wrong For The Part 2014 will be a one night showing, with two performances happening back to back. Entrance to the show is free, though it’s suggested you provide a donation of some value to the showing, given this is a fundraising effort after all. For the Kathie Rasmussen Women’s Theatre, the one’s presenting the show? Or The Broom Street Theater, where the show will be shown? My memory is too dang fickle to remember, and I’m too withdrawn to ask the proper parties. At the very least, all parties involved within this production are amazing and desiring of something from the world, so give what you can even if it should just be simple audience participation. Laughs and smiles have weight in gold.
