My Akoha History #16 – Personality Test?

I consider “What Color Are You?” to be more an advertisement than an actual mission of Akoha. Played on December 31, 2010 (Happy New Year?),  it’s akin to the thousands of personality tests found across the Internet. How this one came to be an official mission is what I believe to be an accident on the part of Akoha. Sometime in 2010, they opened up the door for users to submit ideas for missions rather than Akoha itself be creative for the sake of the users. I’m not quite sure what the process was to get a mission approved, but this was one of those missions, and it makes me wonder what their screening process was given this was blatant advertising. I joke you not, the mission required you to go to an offsite webpage and complete a survey, after which you would be asked to sign up to discover a little more about yourself. Very. Blatant.

Perhaps this was a way to help pay for a site for which I could see had no means to sustain itself financially, and this other website was giving a fee to Akoha to host the mission. Of course, that’s much worse than believing Akoha had a wretched screening process for their mission ideas, which in of itself is bad already. However it was, feel free to read what the personality test surmised from the answers I gave, and think on it with a grain of salt…

Apparently, I’m a ‘White’ personality?

“Whites are motivated by Peace. They seek independence and require kindness. They resist confrontation at all costs. To them, feeling good is more important than being good. They are typically quiet by nature, process things very deeply and objectively with great clarity. Of all the colors, whites are the best listeners. They respect people who are direct but recoil from perceived hostility or verbal battle.

“Whites need their ‘alone time’ and refuse to be controlled by others. Whites want to do things their own way and in their own time. They ask little of others and resent others demanding much of them. Whites are much stronger than people think, but are not often seen for their strength because they don’t easily reveal their feelings. Whites are even-tempered, diplomatic, and the voice of reason; but can also be indecisive, unexpressive, and silently stubborn. When you deal with a WHITE, be kind, accept and support their individuality, and look for non-verbal clues to understand their feelings.”

*shrug* Hell if I know if that sounds right.

So what does you the reader think? Does that sound a lot like me? Or does it sound a lot like you? I have more than half a mind to say it’s bullshit like horoscopes and similar items. Though it’s my feeling from the offset, because I don’t trust machines to codify humans into groups of thought and action, who are not only complex but mutable. Funny I should say that, because I once shared a D&D Alignment Test with my Players, and Alignment works just like that in the world of D&D. As it goes.

Everyone and their mother knows of some kind of personality test, and I’ve been known to indulge them now and then. Heck, I once thought highly of a certain test given to me in the past by my Psychology teacher in high school (big mistake on taking that). We were asked to draw a picture, and I forget if it was supposed to be of ourselves or just whatever we wanted, but somehow we were given a result of our personality from just that. I disregard it now, but at the time I was impressionable and looking for answers and thought highly of it. Fearful as well, because the machines were learning too much (or however that result was attained). But as already noted, I’ve thought better in my years, and only indulge them if I’m bored. One would think I could use my time on something more important and progressive, and they would be right.
